Substances required for healthy growth, normal body functioning and essential in our diet. Vitamins are either water soluble - B's and C or fat soluble - A, D, E and K. Although some vitamins can be synthesized in the body, minerals cannot. Minerals are needed to activate vitamins they are inorganic substances that are essential. They are found in 3 areas of the body - body tissues (organs), body fluids, and solid structures (teeth, bones, nails, and hair). The 2 major categories of minerals are macro minerals & micro minerals. Vitamins, components of enzyme systems, regulate our metabolism and lack of sufficient amounts can result in specific deficiency diseases.
Vitamin & Mineral levels are an essential component of our body. There are many reasons nutrient deficiencies occur including over-processing, heating, poor food choices, poor food storage and different life stages.
